Why I chose 'Weebly Website Builder' to create a website for my business
I am a singer songwriter and I have been posting my videos on Youtube for 8 years now. It's been slow going, but I have persevered . I post my music under my own name Jamie Wills-Taylor. One of the things I have always worried about was having a hyphen in my name. But as the saying goes 'you work with what your have'.
I've tried different ideas from posting my covers of my favourite artists, to posting my own original songs to gain subscribers. My subscriber count has steadily moved up but recently stopped and the other day I lost one! When you spend hours working on videos and song writing it can become disheartening. I am not going to let this get me down though because being a youtube creator is my dream. I decided to look at other ways to support my youtube channel by building a both channels a weebly website.
My Music Youtube Channel is coming up to 1300 subscribers now. https://jamiewills-taylor.weebly.com/
Once I reached 1000 I was invited to the Youtube events at the Youtube Space near St Pancras Station in London. I was able to attend talks by people who had grown their own channels successfully to 1 million subscribers plus.
One of the things that came accross from various speakers. The most important thing to remember about growing your own youtube channel. Make sure you work hard to post good content and choose a subject you love.
After attending one of these events I got inspired by the idea of following your passion and finding a niche market. I now have two youtube channels. One for promoting myself as a solo artist and the other for promoting my Brief Histories Channel.http://www.briefhistories.co.uk/ The Brief Histories Channel stemmed from my passion of making timelines on people in history. The first timeline I made, was as a teenager. I painted a 8ft x 6ft timeline of the Greek Gods on my bedroom wall when my mum was out. Fortunately she saw the hard work it had taken to research the subject so she didn't end up grounding me. Now I am turning that passion into a free online education site to support learning in and out of the classroom. I research all the timelines, do all the artwork and present the channel.
There are so many different aspects of marketing and one of the main things I hear and read, is you need your own website page. With my subscribers not growing fast enough for me I have decided to build myself a website page for my music profile. With a website I am able to add a contact page and collate emails to keep any of my followers up to date on my new content. My Brief Histories Channel is more interactive so a website has definitely been essential.
When I first researched what platform to use I looked at Wix, Wordpress and Weebly. I had heard a lot of negative things about weebly compared to Wordpress but to be honest having spent 30 minutes looking at the Wordpress site I found it quite complicated. I decided to do a comparison on the 3 sites and googled Wordpress verses Wix, Wordpress verses Weebly etc.
Out of all my research I chose Weebly. I had heard things like Weebly was unstable and you couldn't have a professional looking site on it. Well I wholeheartedly disagree as I have found Weebly to be an easy site to use. It has never been unstable on either of my sites even with the fact my Brief Histories website is very complex with a lot of pages and information on it.I have been able to add apps often free to my page to make the clients with a user friendly experience.
If you are starting out Weebly is also great as you can have a free site. With weebly you can use the domain name they offer you or buy your own domain name and attach it to your website. If you have a look at my website you can see I have used both.
One of the main things that sold me with the weebly site was if you were unable to afford to add your own domain, you would always have a web page using weebly. The least you would have is your beautiful site and at the bottom of the page it would say proudly powered by weebly. But you would never have an empty page with back soon.
The great thing for me about using Weebly it has allowed me to build an online profile using their easy to use creator tools. I now have not one but two websites I am proud of. And the great benefit of using Weebly I don't have to keep going back to a web designer and paying money to have alterations. I can go on myself and update photos and add texts in minutes allowing me to keep my websites updated.
If you decide to take my advice and choose Weebly you can find lots of videos on Youtube giving you help and support to build your own Website. Plus Weebly has some great videos and articles on their site. The site adds new apps all the time and it makes it easy to be a creator.. I have added the link in case you want to take a look. Good Luck with your website. Jamie. x https://www.weebly.com/uk
